Apple's iPad Air 3 release remains uncertain as the company is focused on the next iPad Pro.

There have been many rumors about Apple's iPad Air 3, especially the fact that the tablet could be cancelled because of the company's decision to streamline its products. However, latest rumors indicate that the iPad Air 3 may not be cancelled and that it could drop sometime in the fourth quarter of this year.

Rumors about the cancellation of iPad Air 3 stemmed from the absence of the device at the recently held Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June. The tablet as well did not feature last year in September when the Cupertino-based tech giant was launching iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. Word about the upcoming iPad Pro being similar to the Air lineup has also added fuel to the inferno.

Apple released the first iPad Air on Oct. 22, 2013, and later followed it with the iPad Air 2 on Oct. 16, 2014. Going by the same pattern, it is expected that the company release the iPad Air 3 in the third quarter of this year, specifically in October, according to Mobile N Apps.

Given that older versions of the iPad Air lineup have recently seen a price cut among the United States retailers, it is evident that the iPad Air 3 has not been cancelled. In most cases, a decrease in sales price shows that a new iteration is in pipeline.

On the other hand, it is rumored that the iPad Air 3 will come out sometime in November in the United Kingdom, according to PC Advisor. The publication as well posits that the iPad Air lineup may not be ditched because of its seemingly affordable price. While the tablet is similar to the upcoming iPad Pro with regard to specs and features, it is agreeable that the iPad Air is much cheaper than its Pro counterpart is.

In case the iPad Air 3 finally releases, fans should expected many improvements as compared to its predecessor. However, Apple has not given any official statement on the whereabouts of the tablet, and therefore, these rumors should be taken with a grain of salt.
