Game Freak unveils new Battle Royal mode and other features in upcoming 'Pokemon Sun and Moon.'

Avid "Pokemon" 3DS players have been eagerly anticipating the release of "Pokemon Sun and Moon." Latest updates have unveiled some interesting details about the game's new Battle Royal feature and Pokedex, as revealed by Game Freak executives.

The upcoming 3DS game "Pokemon Sun and Moon" will introduce several new features that include a new fighting mode called Battle Royal. The said feature enables four players to have their Pokemon battle each other in a ring. The game's producer Junichi Masuda and director Shigeru Ohmori shared that the new battle system will have gamers gathering together to have a fun Pokemon encounter, according to an English translation of a Famitsu interview posted on Nintendo Everything.

The new Battel Royal feature will also challenge a player's tactical and game strategy skills. The game rules that developers have incorporated into new battle mode will give even a weak Pokemon the chance to win against a strong trainer. The Game Freak executives teased that players will need to come up with a good strategy to win a match.

Starting out with strong attacks may become disadvantageous for players, as indicated in the same report. This could lead to other gamers targeting a dominant player. Although the Game Freak executives stated that the rules of the new battle mode will make it difficult for players to "gang up" on a specific gamer.

Another new feature that Masuda and Ohmori shared during the said interview involved the Pokedex. The game producer mentioned that he wanted to add a feature where the Pokedex would be able to speak and answer questions. The said new feature was said to have come from an idea of having Rotom, a ghost/electric type Pokemon, take control of a Pokedex. Masuda explained that enhancing the Pokedex into a "Rotomdex" would make a player's game journey more interesting.

In other news, a special limited edition Nintendo 3DS XL device that contains images of the "Pokemon Sun and Moon" legendaries on its cover is currently available for pre-order, Digital Spy reported. The said device, named Nintendo 3DS XL Solgaleo and Lunala Limited Edition, is a black colored handheld unit. On the front of the device are depictions of the two Pokemon legendaries.

The unit is already available for pre-order on Nintendo's U.K. online store for £179.99 ($235.55), but it does not include the game. Players can choose the £224.98 ($294.43) deal where gamers can get either the "Pokemon Sun" or "Pokemon Moon" along with the device.

"Pokemon Sun and Moon" has been set for release on Nov. 18 on 3DS.
