The new YG girl group BLACKPINK debut was reportedly delayed to Aug. 1 or 8, according to an unnamed source.
The source told Star News that BLACKPINK's debut is still under discussion. Since the debut date is not yet confirmed, it may still change depending on the circumstances. The source continued, "We're still discussing the debut date and music show appearances."
Some reports stated that BLACKPINK debut is reportedly delayed by the agency as it waits for the comeback of another girl group, Red Velvet.
It was revealed earlier that the label will hold its debut stage at the end of July. The debut song will be revealed later this month. However, International Business Times reported that the group has filmed two MVs for their album and they will film six more. This hinted that the group will debut with a full album and not a mini album. The group is probably aiming for "Rookie of the Year" award at Mnet Asia Music Award 2016.
Teddy will be the main producer of the new girl group. It was thought that G-Dragon will be the producer of the girls, but it seems that Teddy has more songs fit for a girl group. Teddy has been in charge of 2NE1's albums. Thus, we can expect songs similar to 2NE1.
However, YG fans can be assured that BLACKPINK will debut this year because of the absence of a flagship girl group. Moreover, the hype around BLACKPINK doused the hopes of Blackjacks of seeing 2NE1 as a trio this year after Minzy left the group and the label.
YG Entertainment has officially revealed the members of BLACKPINK - Jennie Kim, Lalisa Manoban, Kim Jisoo, and Park Chaeyoung. Yibada previously reported that the new YG girl group will have four members like its sunbae group 2NE1.
