Hailee Steinfeld may begin take over the leadership of the Barden Bellas in "Pitch Perfect 3," as Beca, Fat Amy and Chloe graduates from college.

This one fan favorite may or may not return in the third "Pitch Perfect" movie. Adam Devine, who plays the overly confident Bumper in the original and sequel, is still not certain about whether he will be part of "Pitch Perfect 3."

'They haven't fully locked in the story. I don't even know if I'm gonna be in it or not. They did not have me sign on," Devine said in a statement to Los Angeles Times writer Any Kaufman. However, he said that he would love to do "Pitch Perfect 3" if his schedule permitted. On the downside, Devine confirmed that he's already book throughout the summer.

Original cast members Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Brittany Snow have signed on for the third film, as well as new member Hailee Steinfeld, who first appeared in "Pitch Perfect 2." There's still no word about the participation of the Barden Bella alumna.

"Pitch Perfect 2" director and cast member Elizabeth Banks will also return to the director's chair.

As to the "Pitch Perfect 3" plot, Universal has kept details under wraps, save for one detail. "Get ready to have a Merry Pitchmas," the studio said when it announced the movie's tentative release date for December 2017, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

However, there are speculations that Steinfeld may begin take over the leadership of the Barden Bellas in "Pitch Perfect 3," as Beca, Fat Amy and Chloe graduates from college. It was reported that Universal and Golden Circle was planning a "Pitch Perfect" franchise when they signed on Steinfeld.

The first "Pitch Perfect" became a surprise monster hit when it premiered in 2012. The musical comedy, which centered on college acapella group Barden Bellas and their uphill climb towards the highly competitive national acapella competition, grossed $115 million.

The second film scored higher box office numbers at $287 million, making "Pitch Perfect 2" the highest-grossing musical comedy ever.

"Pitch Perfect 3" was moved to a Christmas 2017 release date from its original July 21, 2017 screening. The musical threequel would be going head to head with "Star Wars: Episode VIII," which is set to open on December 15, 2017.
