Gal Gadot reveals inspiration behind her "Wonder Woman" role.

The upcoming superhero film "Wonder Woman" has been one of the highly anticipated movies in the DC cinematic universe. Gal Gadot, who plays the titular role of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, has recently shared that the late Princess Diana served as her inspiration for her character.

The actress made the revelation during the movie's panel at the San Diego Comic-Con held on Saturday, July 23. She stated that prior to starting filming activities for the upcoming "Wonder Woman" movie, she looked at a clip of the late Princess of Wales for inspiration. Gadot recounted that she watched a Princess Diana documentary along with the film's director Patty Jenkins, according to The Daily Beast.

She compared some of the characteristics of her DC superhero role to that of Prince William and Prince Harry's mother. Gadot described Wonder Woman as a strong goddess who has the "heart of a human." The actress commented how Princess Diana previously mentioned that she was the kind of person who leads from the heart and not from the head. The Israeli-born star stated that Wonder Woman also has the same values.

Meanwhile, both Gadot and filmmaker Jenkins have even expressed their excitement over the upcoming film during the 2016 Comic Con. The actress shared that there were moments that she felt that shooting the said movie was a timely project, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She explained that the film was not about her acting abilities or Jenkin's directorial skills. "It felt like we were just a vessel for a greater story that we need to share with everyone," Gadot said.

Jenkins also recalled the long journey it took for her to convince movie studio executives to create a "Wonder Woman" film. The filmmaker shared how she met with Warner Bros. to pitch the idea of a movie about the said DC superhero. Although the outcome of Jenkins' initial meetings with the movie studio did not go as planned, the director stated that she was thankful for the experience.

She then described the upcoming movie as a lifelong dream and how she has always wanted to make the said film. Jenkins also complimented Gadot for her professionalism and for helping create a positive working atmosphere during filming.

"Wonder Woman" will hit movie theaters on June 2, 2017.
