Katee Sackhoff who was one of the front runners to play the role of Carol Danvers finally lost the battle to Brie Larson. The San Diego Comic-Con 2016 concluded on July 24 and along with many other surprises came the surprise when the name of Larson was announced to play the role of Carol Danvers in the upcoming movie ''Captain Marvel.''

Sackhoff was a popular choice for this role after her humongous success in movies like ''Power/Rangers'' where she played the role of Kimberly Scott (née Hart). Even though it was a short film directed by Joseph Kahn, the battle between The Machine Empire and the Power Rangers brought the raw elements out. A few months back, there was a story published in Cinema Blend about on why Sackhoff was the right choice for the role of ''Captain Marvel.''

However, Sackhoff had emphasised that she would like to do the role of ''Black Cat'' in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies. So it is a possibility that she will be considered for a full-fledged role by MCU in future. She already gave her voice to the role of Black Cat 2099 in the video game ''Spider-Man: Edge of Time'' which was released in 2011.

Even though the blonde hair, athletic figure, and action movie elements which Sackhoff possesses made her a popular choice, she herself had shown disinterest in the role. She had mentioned that her tastes are ''more villainous'' in nature and instead of the protagonist; she would love to play the role of antagonist.

Even though in this year's Comic con 2016 the name of the much awaited Captain Marvel was declared as Brie Larson, the fans of Sackhoff feel that she was a better choice. Larson was the popular choice after her win in the Oscars this year for her role in ''Room.'' According to Time, her name was announced along with the cast of the upcoming MCU movies ''Guardians of the Galaxy,'' ''Black Panther,'' ''Doctor Strange'' and ''Spider-Man.''

A few months back when Sackhoff was asked about her opinion for the role of Black Cat, her answer was very candid. ''Oh, 100% I'd do that! I love playing characters who are multilayered and multidimensional and have a darkness to them, which makes them more realistic and more fun to play'' is what she had to say. So it is highly possible that she will be cast in one of the MCU movies in the near future. Watch this video about the history of Captain Marvel in Marvel Comics.
