"Burnt" actress Sienna Miller has been attached to play the role of Carol Danvers in Marvel's upcoming "Captain Marvel."
In her interview with MTV to promote John Wells' comedy drama film "Burnt," Miller said that she was not someone who read a lot of comics and she did not actually know that world particularly well. For Miller, she believed that it would have been quite fun, for her child as well.
According to Cinema Blend, Miller had a good resemblance with Danvers in most of the superheroine's comic iterations. In fact, the actress is also known for her roles in Clint Eastwood's action drama "American Sniper," Bennett Miller's sports drama "Foxcatcher," Stephen Sommers' action sci-fi "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra," and Matthew Vauhgn's fantasy "Stardust," which help her qualify for the role.
"Captain Marvel" centers on Carol Danvers who obtains supernatural abilities from a Kree device. In the comics, Danvers started as a member of the Air Force. But then, her exposure to the flare-up of an alien (Kree) device led her human genes to mix with the Kree genes. It gave her powers, such as super strength, speed, and agility, in addition to flight abilities and energy manipulation.
Aside from Sienna, Ronda Rousey, Emily Blunt, Charlize Theron, Rebecca Ferguson, and Jennifer Lawrence have been attached to the role; however, Marvel is yet to announce the one who will don Danvers' suit and become first lead female in Marvel's Cinematic Universe.
Marvel's "Captain Marvel" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on Mar. 8, 2019.
