"Transparent" actress Amy Landecker has joined the growing cast ensemble of Scott Derrickson's "Doctor Strange."
Sources told The Wrap that Landecker's role was being kept under wraps at this point, so it is assumed that fans of the comic books and Marvel's Cinematic Universe would follow this through with speculations about her potential role.
According to Cinema Blend, Landecker was an amazing inclusion to what was already a prodigious team of actors. In fact, Derrickson's "Doctor Strange" cast was more resonant of a heavy drama cast, in a film that contended for prominent accolade like Oscar.
Landecker plays the role of Sarah Pfefferman in Jill Soloway's comedy drama series "Transparent." She is also known for her roles in Ethan Coen and Joel Coen's comedy drama "A Serious Man," Peter Hedges' crime drama film "Dan in Real Life," Nicole Holofcener's comedy romance "Enough Said," and Dean Israelite's "Project Almanac."
Aside from Derrickson's "Doctor Strange," Landecker is also set to be part of Jonathan Mostow's action thriller film "Hunter's Prayer," Robert Schwartzman's "MF," and Tessa Blake's short drama "Upended."
Derrickson's "Doctor Strange" will not be an origin story, but will still center on the exploits of Strange, a neurosurgeon who loses his hands' fine motor skills after an accident. He meets the Ancient One, a master of magic who trains him to become the Sorcerer Supreme and defend the world from evil.
"Doctor Strange" stars Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One, Rachel McAdams as the Night Nurse, Michael Stuhlbarg as Nicodemus West, and Benedict Cumberbatch as Marvel's Sorcerer Supreme. "Hannibal" actor Mads Mikkelsen, who was reported to play the role of Mephisto or Dormammu, might not appear in Derrickson's forthcoming film.
Derrickson's "Doctor Strange" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on Nov. 4, 2016.
