The cancelled "Constantine" Season 2 has the possibility of coming back on everyone's TV screens, given that the show may take over "The Vampire Diaries" time slot.
According to Movie News Guide, there is a potential for the CW to adopt the TV show due to the fact that the said TV network has been streaming "Constantine" Season 1 on the CW seed, along with other DC Comics-based TV shows. Should the plans to proceed with the show's rebirth come to pass, it is said that "Constantine" Season 2 will take over "The Vampire Diaries" time slot after the show ends its 8th season.
However, there is some competition with this time slot as another TV show, "iZombie," is eying the same time slot as well. If "Constantine" Season 2 takes over the time slot successfully, the CW would have a DC superhero TV show airing every weeknight.
Rumors about the TV show's rebirth on the CW surfaced when Matt Ryan guested on "Arrow" as his titular character John Constantine. Coincidentally, according to MNR daily, the timeline of "Arrow" is part of the DC universe as well, thus, connected to the timeline of "Constantine."
Added to this, the CW also adopted "Supergirl" Season 2 from CBS, which caused fans to have a bigger hope that the CW will also adopt "Constantine" Season 2 from NBS. If this would materialize, "Constantine" Season 2 would be joining the CW powerhouse shows such as "The Flash" and "Legends of Tomorrow," to name a few.
Meanwhile, just as fans rejoice that they may be able to see John Constantine again, the series creator and executive producer Daniel Cerone took to social media to dismiss any claims about the show's renewal. On Twitter, he said that having "Constantine" on the CW's Seed doesn't automatically mean that the CW is deliberately adopting the show.
Although it seems like a pleasing idea, the executive producer clarified that contract agreements for the CW and the CW seed are two different things. The show's creator didn't deny though that he's been witnessing the online claims by fans to bring back "Constantine" Season 2 to life.
Another reason for the show's halt is the fact that Ryan himself is busy with other projects. The 35-year-old British actor currently has his plate full while filming "The Halcyon," a new TV series set in the 1940's.
