Roman Reigns' road at the top of the WWE mountain has not gone very smoothly despite the best efforts of Vince McMahon and several top officials. According to the latest rumors, Reigns' push is over for now and there is a chance that he might be finally turning heel.
The WWE tried everything they can to make Reigns the next face of the company for the past couple of years. However, he has not gotten over the crowd as they got sick of him being shoved down their throats.
And to top it all, Reigns failed a drug test under the WWE Wellness Policy while he was the WWE World Heavyweight champion. The company had no choice but to remove the title from him at Money in the Bank then suspending him for 30 days on June 21.
The Guy returned to television at WWE Battleground in The Shield Triple Threat Match wherein he got pinned cleanly by Dean Ambrose to retain the championship. He then lost to Finn Balor the next night on Monday Night Raw, signaling the end of his push.
According to WrestleZone, The Roman Empire has ended the minute he violated the Wellness Policy. The fact that he lost cleanly for three matches in a row is a sign that the WWE is done pushing him, for now.
Many diehard fans are now screaming for a heel turn because it is the only way the WWE can get him over. The three-time WWE World champion is getting booed already and the company should capitalize on it. They should make the monster heel that suits his look and moveset.
The perfect way to turn Reigns heel is to have him attack a top babyface like Balor or even Seth Rollins to facilitate a rare double-turn. It is a very difficult story to pull off but the way Reigns talked after his loss to Balor means he will not be turning heel anytime soon.
One of the reasons why the WWE may going the John Cena route for Reigns is his appeal to women and kids, TribLive reported. Women love The Guy because his tall, dark and handsome look while kids think he is a superhero.
Nevertheless, the Reigns push is over but he just needs to let the backstage heat on him subside. He also has to work his ass off more while also developing a character. He is only entering his prime and he is still one of the cornerstones of the WWE's future.
