Sean Davis, a veteran of war, had written an open letter to Donald Trump. He is not happy with what the presidential candidate said after being given the purple heart by a retired lieutenant colonel.

Sean Davis is a veteran who received a Purple Heart, an award bestowed those in the military who have been wounded or killed during war, by the president himself. Davis had received the award when he was wounded from a violent ambush in Taji, Iraq. He also ran for mayor in Portland this year.

Davis wrote a direct letter to Trump on The Big Smoke on Tuesday, August 2, where he explained the weight of the medal and what it means to him, as a survivor of an ambush. When Davis heard Trump tactlessly quipped, "I always wanted to get the Purple Heart. This was much easier," he got very upset.

In the letter, Davis did not hold back his dislike for the presidential candidate, and called it unfair that someone gave a person "so full of hate and ignorance" an item that Davis holds sacred inh his heart. He further stated that Trump had absolutely no idea what the Purple Heart award really meant to those who hold it.

Davis then addressed the issue by taking a load off his heart through sharing the story and aftermath of the incident. He said that he first gave the Purple Heart to his son when he first returned to America 12 years ago. The reason he gave it to his son is for him to understand the weight and load of sacrifice and duty for one's country and what it truly means.

In an ironic twist, he wishes the same thing to Trump: that the Purple Heart award the lieutenant colonel gave to Trump would make him understand what it really means to hold that award. By making things optimistic, Davis wishes it was something Trump could learn from, especially since Trump has absolutely no idea about sacrifice and duty.

Most of all, to end the letter in a brilliant note, Davis wrote that he wishes it would have a crushing load on Trump at first, and make him realize that the veterans and their families are not toys and props for him to use in the battlefield for his own satisfaction. His life has been defined by sacrifice after joining the war, and he concludes that no wealthy business magnate turned presidential candidate can ever belittle those accomplishments.

Davis feels like he had the duty and responsibility to speak out on the matter, Oregon Live quoted him as saying. Part of that responsibility is not letting someone like Trump win and get into power. Below is a video of Trump talking about the Purple Heart he received and calling the veteran to stage.
