American sports apparel manufacture Nike is bringing its Nike store into the digital marketplace with a little twist. During the NBA All Star Weekend held in New York City, Nike unveiled its SNKRS pop-up stores and now the company is offering the same service through its SNKRS app which will allow users to purchase Nike sneakers.

The new digital store will offer the latest and vast selection of Nike shoes right into the customers smartphone and will mix personal sneaker designing along with ecommerce.

The app will offer users the ability to follow certain Nike basketball shoes and deliver important notification relating to upcoming product release, promotions and the company also plans to launch full-on magazine-style content at a later date, according to Sport Techie.

Nike vice president of digital commerce Jesse Stollak told Mashable, "[We'll] be creating original content and stories that will feed that curiosity and passion of this community. Stories behind the design and inspiration of each sneaker, stories they won't be able to find anywhere else."

The planned magazine-style presentation was originally referred to as "magalog," a portmanteau of the words magazine and catalog. It was previously tried on old media like paper but Nike is positive that introducing it on the digital medium along with the company's worldwide reputation will help yield a positive result.

One of the most interesting features that will be added on the SNKRS app is the free shipping and return. This option is currently unavailable in brick and mortar store. This will also encourage consumers to purchase products without leaving the comforts of their home or offices.

The SNKRS app is currently available for iOS user only but Nike said that a version for the Android platform is already in development.
