Nike teamed up with AKQA to take fitness to the next level and used 12 months of personal data to create motivational videos. More than 100,000 Nike+ members across Nike+ Training Club, Nike Fuel and Running were given a one minute video clip featuring content based on their own Nike+ activities the previous years, PSFK reported.
Nike and its digital creative agency AKQA have worked together in 2014 to track the most active Nike Fuelband and Nike+Running users and used the data to make 100,000 customized animated videos where it shows a person running while it shows the actual workout from the earlier year. Location and weather are also shown at the time of the performance.
By year-end, the performance data were sent back to each person to encourage them to do more and beat themselves from the previous year, according to Kicks On Fire.
With the new Nike video clips, the sports company challenges athletes across the US and Canada to do better this year. The video program's named "Your Year With Nike+" is a sequence of personalized animated videos made for the most active Nike+ users.
Nike is planning to show a broad recap and four local versions of the videos than can be shared on users' social media profiles.
Every customized video has an animated version of the user containing the weather, location, activity, and individualized Nike+ movement data. A Nike+ user from the United States like NYC will have a completely different video from a Nike+ user in Toronto, Canada.
At present, Nike and AKQA have created more videos about four key cities namely: Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, and Toronto.
