Jeremy Lin has the chance to put up big numbers this upcoming season as he finally has a chance to be a starter for an NBA team since 2013. In a recent poll, fans voted Lin over Stephen Curry and Russell Westbrook as the top point guard heading into the 2016-17 season.

USA Today Sports' top NBA website, HoopsHype, conducted a poll asking fans who they think is the league's top playmaker. As of this time, Lin is the top vote-getter with about 3,200 upvotes, followed by Curry with more than 1,500 upvotes and Westbrook with around 1,300 upvotes.

Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers and Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers makes it in the top five. Chris Paul, John Wall, Kyle Lowry, Kemba Walker and Isaiah Thomas also made it in the top ten of best point guards.

The appeal of Lin to the fans all over the world, especially in Asia, is evident and it could lead to him getting voted as a starter in the 2017 NBA All-Star Game. He recently signed a three-year, $36 million deal to become the Brooklyn Nets' starting point guard and second option on offense behind Brook Lopez.

The 27-year-old decided to join Brooklyn because he wanted to prove to everyone that he is a starting-caliber point guard in the NBA. He met with several teams in free agency but he ultimately agreed to sign with the Nets due to head coach Kenny Atkinson.

The Nets' new head coach was a former assistant to the New York Knicks, who Lin credits as one of the factors in the birth of "Linsanity" in 2012. During that incredible ten-game stretch, Lin averaged 24.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 9.0 assists.

The Harvard product's last year as a starter was in the 2012-13 season with the Houston Rockets wherein he averaged 13.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 6.1 assists. Last season with the Charlotte Hornets, Lin was one of NBA's premiere sixth men as he averaged 11.7 points while only starting 13 games.

According to Sportige.com, Lin is expected to put up career-highs for the Nets next season. It is projected that he could average 18 points and eight assists per game as a full-time starter.
