Taram Killam is not coming back for Season 42 of 'SNL'

Many fans are still puzzled over the sudden departure of Taran Killam from "Saturday Night Live." What is more surprising is the fact that the comedian himself does not know why he was cut from the NBC TV show.

"Saturday Night Live" is guaranteed to return for Season 42 but Taran Killam will not be part of it anymore, according to E! Online. The same is true for his fellow SNL co-star Jay Pharoah. Both TV personalities were on the show for 6 seasons.

As with Killam, he started on the NBC sketch comedy show in 2010. He has done various impressions including Matthew McConaughey , Brad Pitt and politician Marco Rubio. Needless to say he reportedly state that he is grateful for his time on "Saturday Night Live."

He felt like his job on SNL was a dream job that let him do what he was able to do so well.

Regarding his exit from the comedy series, he said, "It's always hard and sad to say goodbye, but it feels like an appropriate time and I am so, so grateful to have been a cast member on Saturday Night Live."

With one year left on his contract, Killam is just as perplexed as to why he could not return for the next season. In an interview with UPROXX he admits that he does not fully know why. He said, "I was never given a reason why, really."

He adds that he does not know the other side of the story.

On the other hand, he announced that he is directing a movie titled "Why We're Killing Gunther" that will star Arnold Schwarzenegger. He also said that the movie will have two months of post-production work that would have been a potential conflict with the "Saturday Night Live" production schedule. He notes that the executives are aware about it.

As to the talks that SNL does not like it when one of the cast has other gigs, Killam cannot exactly confirm if it is true. He could only say that there were times when SNL allowed some of them to take the time off to film movies, while there were also times when they were not allowed to render a guest spot.

At this point, the fans of the 34-year-old comedian can only conclude that his directing project may be a possible reason that he was cut from the American comedy show. Then again, this too, has yet to be confirmed.
