"Nashville" season 5 recently moved from ABC to CMT, and showrunner Callie Khouri just confirmed that the premiere episode for the series will take place in December.

According to TV Line, the series creator made the announcement on Friday night while at the Grand Ole Opry where "Nashville" cast member Charles Esten headlined the concert. The event was also joined by other country musicians such as Carrie Underwood and more.

Twitter user @TheCMBeat also confirmed the news via Twitter while writing, "Great news #Nashville fans! Creator @CallieKhouri announced on the @opry w/ @CharlesEsten 2nite that #Nashville will b back in DECEMBER." Unfortunately, it is still unclear which date exactly will season 5, episode 1 be released.

In a follow up tweet, a photo of Esten talking to the concert attendees was posted online. "@CharlesEsten just brought some news about #NashvilleCMT... It will return to @CMT @hulu this December!"

However, a spokesperson from CMT told the publication that they haven't made any decisions yet on when season 5 will premiere on the network.

Meanwhile, the network announced back in June that they will be releasing a total of 22 episodes for the upcoming fifth season of "Nashville." The country series was already cancelled by ABC, but CMT decided to pick it up. The network also has an ongoing partnership with Hulu wherein all of the episodes that aired on the scheduled day will be streamed a day later via the streaming site.

The original cast of "Nashville" season 5 is all expected to return to the show except for Will Chase and Aubrey Peeples.
