“Descendants of the Sun” actor Song Joong-ki is still popular in China as proven by his being able to promote a Chinese cosmetic product in Shanghai despite the ban on Korean celebrities because of Seoul’s deployment of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD).
Even among fellow South Korean celebrities, the 30-year-old actor is more liked by actor Jo In Sung than another actor Lee Kwang Soo. In his guesting on Aug. 16 at the broadcast of PowerFM radio show “Park Sun Young’s Cinetown,” Jo In Sung said he had better vibes with the “Descendants of the Sun” actor than Lee Kwang Soo, reported Soompi.
Jo In Sung pointed out that Kwang Soo is kind, however, he needs a lot of attention. In contrast, Song Joong-ki is smart. The three of them went on a fun vacation in Thailand after Song Joong-ki’s discharge from the military, he disclosed. After the vacation, Song Joong-ki made “Descendants of the Sun” which made him the most popular actor in South Korea and China.
Meanwhile, IBTimes-India reported that on the actor’s birthday on Sept. 19, fans of the actor from Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Philippines and other parts of Asia are planning parties and fun activities.
In the Philippines where “Descendants of the Sun” is currently being aired over GMA-7, his Filipino fans plan a birthday party in Malate, Manila on Sept. 18. The event would be held at the Asian Social Institute where there would be games and screening of the actor’s movies.
In Singapore and Malaysia, fans have requested Blossom Management, the actor’s management agency, to have a meet and greet on Sept. 19. But before his birthday, Song Joong-ki and Song Hye Kyo will attend an awards night on Sept. 8.
