‘Resident Evil 7’ showcased at E3.

The latest Capcom offering, "Resident Evil 7," went through a major overhaul, as if to make up for its sloppiness in "Resident Evil 6." The game is scheduled for worldwide release on Jan. 24 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The game will also have VR support.

The new horror survival game is set in Louisiana plantation mansion and is playable in first-person perspective, unlike other parts that were played in third-person. This is the most significant change introduced in the franchise's seventh installment. Capcom also reveals that "Resident Evil 7" will feature a new protagonist who is very different from trained operatives from previous "RE" games.

Meanwhile, The "Lantern" demo was released at E3, giving players a glimpse into the game's new look. In the demo, protagonist finds a footage VHS tape that unveils a woman's horrific end.

The woman in question is Marguerite Baker, an old woman, who is seen carrying a lantern. However, at this point, it is not known who you are or what you are doing at Baker estate. The whole scene doesn't last more than 15 minutes and as the demo ends, players are introduced to a classic resident evil puzzle. Once the player solves the puzzle, they gain access to a secret passage that leads them to the other part of the mansion, IGN reported.

The players will be able to play game demo first-hand, before its official release, at Tokyo Game Show 2016, announced Capcom. The first trailer was released by Capcom for Gamescom 2016. The teaser shows a playable flashback scene where the players will be able to get a foretaste of what to expect in the upcoming game, Engadget reports.

In another news, it was pointed out that the game enthusiasts were alarmed when they learned about VR support for "Resident Evil 7." Some believe that game can be too scary to handle on VR. However, Capcom CEO Katsuhiko Ichii clarifies that they always the option of playing non-VR version.

"Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" is scheduled for Jan. 24, 2017 worldwide.
