The cast and crew of "Sense8" Season 2 have been tight-lipped about the upcoming season, which is due to come out this December. Despite the show's massive success, there are rumblings that the show might not be picked up for a third run.
Early this year, fans of "Sense8" were shocked to learn that Lilly Wachowski, one of the show's co-creators, was leaving the series. "Lilly needed to take some time off," actress Jamie Clayton told Buzzfeed. Lana Wachowski would be working on the show alone, which is a first for the siblings' professional careers.
Clayton, however, is confident that "Sense8" Season 2 is in good hands under Lana's leadership. "Lana is absolutely a superwoman. The way she channels her energy and her creativity ... it keeps me in absolute awe whenever I'm in her presence. She's an absolute force," Clayton said.
Lilly's exit from "Sense8" raised concerns about the show's future. After all, it's the first time a Wachowski sister is working on a project without the other. Together with Lana, Lilly has been one of the show's driving forces and her departure might cause a little shake up moving forward.
However, Lilly's exit wasn't the only controversy that stirred during the production for "Sense8" Season 2. Aml Ameen, who played Capheus in Season 1, was surprisingly recast in the middle of filming. TV Line reported that the actor clashed with Lana during a table read in Berlin and during filming in India. It was said that creative differences caused Ameen to eventually leave the Netflix show.
Ameen has since been replaced by Toby Onwumere, although it's unclear if the part's Ameen has already filmed will be re-shot with Onwumere taking the role.
The substitution drew mixed reactions from fans. One fan tweeted that not being "prepared to change" and that Ameen was great for the role. There were also rumors that Ameen had an issue with the transgender community, which Clayton denied.
Capheus is one of the eight sensates. He lives in Nairobi and struggles to save money to buy medication for his mother who's suffering from AIDS.
In the meantime, "Sense8" Season 2 promises to push the boundaries as the sensates band together to defeat the mysterious Whispers.
The first episode of "Sense8" Season 2 will premiere on Netflix in December.
