Park Shin Hye, Kim Rae Won ‘Doctors’ cast, crew members to celebrate drama end with special trip

The hit medical drama "Doctors" that featured the first time on-screen pairing of Park Shin Hye and Kim Rae Won has recently closed its final chapter. To celebrate its success, the drama's cast and crew members have been gifted a special vacation trip.

The SBS drama "Doctors" has ended its 20 episode run with double-digit viewership ratings. Park and Kim's chemistry, as well as the series' storyline, has helped to push ratings past the 20 percent mark. To celebrate the successful end of the drama, the cast and crew members are slated to go on a vacation treat, Soompi reported.

A two-day trip has been arranged as a celebratory event for the drama's hardworking cast and crew members. The SBS series' team has been slated to go on a domestic trip somewhere in Korea. The two-day vacation treat is expected to start on Friday, Aug. 26.

At this time, it is still unclear if the drama's main cast members, such as Park and Kim, will join the upcoming two-day vacation treat. Apart from the date and expected itinerary, other details of the trip has not been disclosed.

Meanwhile, the series has enjoyed strong ratings since it first aired in June. The drama featured the life struggles and challenges of Park's character Yoo Hye Jung, who grew up from being a rebel teen into a promising surgeon. On the other hand, Kim's Hong Ji Hong has helped to inspire Park's character to become a doctor. The two protagonists also fell in love with each other.

The finale episode that aired on Aug. 23, Tuesday, has also shown the personal growth of the said two characters. Avid viewers witnessed the ups and down in Park and Kim's characters' relationship and respective careers over during the drama's 20 episode run.

The series' finale episode has garnered a nationwide viewership share of 20.2 percent, according to Nielsen Korea. The said episode also posted a rating of 22 percent across South Korea's metropolitan area. The drama's two episodes that aired on Monday, Aug. 22, has reached nationwide ratings of 17.8 percent and 19.5 percent for episodes 18 and 19, respectively. On a metropolitan area basis, the drama's viewership share for episode 18 was at 19.6 percent and 22 percent for episode 19.
