With only a few days left before "Scarlet Heart: Ryeo" premiere, SBS recently released new still images of Lee Joon-Gi and IU's character in the upcoming historical drama. In the show, the stars portray 4th Prince Wang So and Go Ha-Jin/Hae-Soo, respectively.
On Aug. 23, Tuesday, SBS released the pictures to multiple local news outlets. The released photographs obtained by Drama Beans gave fans a first look at Lee and IU's respective character in the series.
The image shows a bloody 4th Prince Wang So, who is thrown onto a mountain where the wolves live. Hence, he is given the derogatory label "dog-wolf," making other individuals tremble with trepidation.
SBS also released more still cuts that particularly show the moments after a 21st-century woman, Go Ha-Jin, transported back in time to the Goryeo Dynasty (918-1392). There, she awakens in the body of a 16-year-old, Hae-Soo.
"Through Hae Soo, viewers will be able to experience what it is like for a 21st-century person to enter the Goryeo period," according to Korean news outlet TV Report, as cited by Naver TV. "They can enjoy watching her learn to adapt and grow."
"Scarlet Heart: Ryeo," which also stars Kang Ha-Neul, Hong Jong-Hyun, Yoon Sun-Woo, Byun Baek-Hyun, Nam Joo-Hyuk, and Ji Soo, is a Korean remake of the 2010-2011 Chinese television series, "Scarlet Heart." The 20-episode drama is directed by PD Kim Kyu Tae based on a script penned by Jo Yoon-Young.
Meanwhile, Lee expressed his desire for "Scarlet Heart: Ryeo" to be popular like "Doctors" during a V-live session on Aug. 16. He said, "It would be great if 'Scarlet Heart: Ryeo' could get as much popularity as 'Doctors.' We worked hard for six months. I hope viewers will be able to recognize our hard work and passion."
SBS's "Scarlet Heart: Ryeo" will air its first two-episode back-to-back on Aug. 29, 10:00 PM (KST). It will be simultaneously broadcast on Japan's KNTV, Youku and Mango TV in China, and ONE TV Asia in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.
