NBA 2K17 news, updates: Legend edition features Kobe Bryant's NBA career; Improved face-scanning app to be available for download in mobile devices

2K Sports announced that the Lakers superstar and 18-time All-Star will grace the cover of a special version of NBA 2K17 called the "Legend Edition."

The Legend edition of NBA 2K17 will be featuring NBA Super Star Kobe Bryant as cover athlete. For fans who have been waiting for an improvement of the previous face-scanning feature, the said element will now be improved in the upcoming installment and will be available for download on mobile phones.

As mentioned by Gotta Be Mobile before, Paul George will become NBA 2K17's overall cover athlete for the basic edition. On the other hand, Kobe Bryant will be the cover for the Legend edition where three different poses of the Black Mamba will be featured. Last year, Michael Jordan was showcased as the cover athlete for the 2K16 version.

Recent developments confirmed the 2017 Legend edition will be focusing on Bryant's career. In a trailer released by NBA, the clip purely depicts how the legend is perceived by people, fans or not. It is expected more of his career and personal life will be featured on the upcoming special edition of NBA 2K17.

Meanwhile, an improved face-scanning app was recently released by EA Games. The app allows users to put themselves inside the sports game.

The feature was first revealed in 2015 which allowed players to use in the PS4, but the results were not pretty good. The feature was again made available in the 2K16 version but did not as well gave better output.

For the upcoming NBA 2K17, better results are expected from the face-scanning application, it will also be beneficial for fans as it will be made available for mobile download. Rookie of the Year Karl Anthony Towns of Minnesota Timberwolves is the cover athlete for the said application, Forbes reported.

A mobile card game similar to WWE's SuperCard will be also be included in the package, the report added. A MyPlayer Shop where players will can possibly earn virtual currency daily will also be available.

More details are expected to be revealed by EA Games in the coming months. For the meantime, readers are advised to take everything with a pinch of salt as major changes may be made before the game is officially launched.
