Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens' victory in the fatal four-way elimination match for the WWE Universal championship sets him up to an appetizing title confrontation with the next no.1 contender: Chris Jericho.

Owens has just become the second superstar to hold the WWE Universal championship after beating Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Big Cass (with the help of Triple H) for the title vacated by inaugural champ Finn Balor seven days ago due to injury.

With Owens now in his first reign as the top man in Monday Night Raw, it's going to be interesting how the company will book his upcoming matches.

It appears to be that Rollins will be taking a step back from the title mix to focus on his latest feud with his former mentor, Triple H. Reigns, on the other hand, will likely be resuming his feud with US champion Rusev.

Big Cass, while he's oozing with potential, is still pretty much raw to have a singles title match with the current champ. He's expected to continue his pursuit for the WWE tag-team title along with Enzo Amore, feuding against Doc Gallows and Anderson and the New Day.

The way things have shaken up after that shocking fatal 4-way match, it leaves, Chris Jericho, 'the Ayatollah of Rock and Rolla' as the only established star on the Raw roster who can stake a claim on the title.

Over the last few weeks, the tag-team partnership of Y2J and the Prizefighter has produced huge win over Big Cass and Enzo Amore and even secured Owen's spot in that fatal 4-way match.

Jericho always stresses that his Jeric-KO partnership with his fellow Canadian superstar is rock solid and that he assures Owens that he always has his back all the way.

Everybody expect that to change especially now that Owens is already Universal title. Jericho hasn't wrapped a major championship belt around his wait for quite some time, having won his last title at Elimination Chamber in 2010.

While it's unknown if the Authority, particularly Triple H, will have a major role in Owens' championship reign, there isn't any doubt that Jericho will find a way to book a showdown with the champ as early as the Clash of the Champion on September 25.
