Kurt Angle has been linked with a return to the WWE for the past year but it has not happened due to some concerns about his health and history of substance abuse. In a recent interview, Angle revealed that he recently talked with Triple H and he could be making his WWE comeback in the future.

The 47-year-old Olympic Gold Medalist wrestled for the WWE from 1998 to 2006 wherein he was six-time WWE World champion. He is also recognized as one of the greatest superstars of all-time and he has been campaigning for a return to the company.

However, Angle has a history of neck injuries and substance abuse that has the WWE second-guessing his return. The former WWE superstar is just looking for closure and he has been healthy, as well as sober, for the past several years.

In an appearance on The Ric Flair podcast, Angle revealed that he recently talked with Triple H, who is the WWE's Executive Vice President for Talent, Live Events and Creative. He mentioned that both sides have mutual interests in working together again.

"If I go back to WWE it would most likely be the year or year after. I did talk with Triple H a few months ago, very loose conversation. They have interest, I have interest. They don't know what to do with me yet, you know, it was more of a loose conversation," Angle said, as transcribed by Cageside Seats.

The Olympian noted that he and Triple H buried the hatchet while also saying that he has been in touch with WWE chairman, Vince McMahon. The WWE has been bringing back former talents to help their very young roster get over.

Angle is one of the greatest wrestlers in history and he instantly gives credibility to anyone he manages or fights. However, he should never wrestle as a full-timer due to his age and injury history. There are a lot of possibilities for Angle and his WWE return.

The WWE can always make him a manager for American Alpha or even becoming an attraction like Brock Lesnar. He could also be a surprise entrant in next year's Royal Rumble or take over The Undertaker's role as a WrestleMania star.

Nevertheless, many fans are still waiting for Angle's WWE return to become official. Check out the video below for Angle's return from injury in 2003.
