The WWE lost another superstar, Finn Balor, to injury and they are in need of a big boost in their storylines. According to the latest rumors, a huge double turn involving Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins are being planned later this year.
Balor, who recently relinquished the WWE Universal Championship due to a shoulder injury, was rumored to be getting a feud with Kevin Owens. It would have led to a match at Clash of Champions with Chris Jericho eventually getting added to the story.
But with The Demon's injury, the WWE had to think of new plans as the ratings continue to spike since the brand extension. The new WWE Universal Champion will be crowned in this week's Monday Night Raw in a Fatal 4-Way Match involving Reigns, Rollins, Owens and Big Cass.
The match is a must-see and it may help with the ratings but the WWE has to go up a notch to give their product some drama. According to Daily Wrestling News, the company is currently planning a double turn that will surely get the people talking.
It is noted that Vince McMahon punished Reigns by putting him in a feud with United States champion Rusev. However, he also wanted The Guy to prove himself but the recent injury to Balor means fans will be seeing more Reigns.
The WWE has not found the right formula to help the three-time WWE World champion to get over their fans. The only remaining thing they have not tried is turning Reigns heel, which really suits his look and character.
According to The Inquisitr, a double turn would be beneficial to both superstars. A heel Reigns will get booed the right way and it will eventually get him over the fans. On the other hand, Rollins working as a face can limit his offense.
The Architect did not injure Balor on purpose but it was the third time someone got injured with him. First, it was John Cena, then Sting and now Balor. He also injured his knee more than a year ago so it can count as four.
It should be noted that the WWE has barely pulled off a great double turn with the last successful one being Bret Hart and Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania 13 in 1997. They have done it with Dolph Ziggler and Alberto Del Rio, and Paige and A.J. Lee but they were not as successful as the Hart-Austin double turn.
