Suggested Hallyu Stars for Taiwanese Drama Made for Korean Viewers

The drama is a main TV fare which has a large following, such as “Descendants of the Sun” which broke viewer records in South Korea and China. Remakes or coming up with a local version of a popular drama from another country also happens.

For instance, at least three Taiwanese dramas have recent Korean remakes. These are “My Queen” into “A Witch’s Romance,” “In Time With You” remade as “The Time I Loved You” and “Fated to Love You” remade with the same title for Korean viewers.

One Taiwanese drama that Soompi suggest to have a Korean version is “In A Good Way,” aired I 2013 and 2014. It is about life in a Taiwanese university and the government during the 1990s. The story revolves around Lin Jia En who followed Ren Wei, her best friend, to a Taipei university, although she had no acceptance from the university. While looking for Ren Wei, she met Liu Chan, a popular law student, and they become a couple. For the remake, the entertainment website suggested casting Park Seo Joon as Liu Can and Park Bo Young as Lin Jia En.

Another drama suggested is “Prince Turns to Frog” which is about Shan Jun Hao, CEO of a large hotel chain and a typical heir characterized by being cold, ruthless and spoiled. A schemer. Ye Tian Yu, accidentally runs over him with her car, causing the heir to lose his memories and change personality into a kindhearted and loving person. Soompi suggested that Joo Won play the role of Jun Hao, while Jung Eun Ji play Tian Yu.

Meanwhile, three Hallyus are listed by Dramabeans as upcoming dramas. These are “On the Way to the Airport” by KBS, “Tomorrow with You” and “Goblin.” KBS also scrapped “Dasan Jeong Yak-yong,” an epic historical drama.
