WWE Rumors: Roman Reigns going after Rusev, United States Championship once again

Roman Reigns arrives for WWE RAW at 02 Brooklyn Bowl on April 18, 2016 in London, England.

Roman Reigns came up short in the Fatal 4-Way Match to become the new WWE Universal Champion. According to the latest rumors, Reigns will be resuming his feud for the United States Championship against Rusev.

As recapped by WWE.com, Kevin Owens became the new WWE Universal Champion when Triple H returned and helped him eliminate Reigns and Rollins. The Game first attacked Reigns and he was eliminated by Rollins.

The Guy had the momentum going into the match as he cleared the ring to start Raw. However, it seems like he has not proven himself worthy enough to be back at the top. It should be noted that Reigns was demoted to the midcard after failing a drug test.

Reigns was suspended for 30 days in June for violating the WWE Wellness Policy. He tested positive for Adderall and his two-year push was immediately stopped. Many experts believed that it was the best thing that had happened for the three-time champion since the WWE has failed to get him over the crowd.

The Big Dog proving himself in the midcard would be great but he still has to tweak his character. He looked very dominant in his feud against Rusev for the U.S. Title and he has been cheered since the champ is an anti-American character.

According to Cageside Seats, Reigns will resume his feud against Rusev now that he has failed to win the WWE Universal Championship. He is expected to face The Bulgarian Brute at "Clash of Champions" on September 25.

Rusev, on the other hand, has been doing great as U.S. Champion until he run into the brick wall called Reigns. He was defeated in a non-title match and he got beat up senseless at SummerSlam. He is currently selling the injury to his ribs but he might be preparing his revenge.

The WWE has been doing a great job since the brand extension and they need to keep the momentum going into "Clash of Champions." It will be Raw's first brand-exclusive and they need to prioritize Rusev's dominance.

Nevertheless, fans can have a sigh of relief with the confirmation that Vince McMahon continues to punish Reigns. It is not a bad thing for The Guy since he has the chance to prove himself and work his way back up the ladder.
