Cesaro recovers after a hit from Kevin Owens at the WWE SummerSlam 2015 at Barclays Center.

Cesaro and Sheamus are in the midst of a Best of Seven series to know which superstar is better. According to the latest rumors, Cesaro is set to win the series and his injury was just a work to build sympathy towards him.

The feud started when Cesaro defeated Sheamus twice after the WWE Draft. The Swiss Superman earned a shot at the United States Championship but he was defeated by Rusev with the help of The Celtic Warrior.

The two continued to attack each other until Monday Night Raw general manager Mick Foley made the Best of Seven series. Sheamus has a 2-0 lead over Cesaro after winning the first match at SummerSlam and the second one in this week's episode of Raw.

During the match, Sheamus hit a back body drop to Cesaro in the ring apron resulting to a possible injury. Referees and officials helped the former U.S. champion to his feet but he was complaining about his back.

According to WWE.com, Cesaro suffered multiple contusions to his lower back. The report did not mention if he will miss some time but the Swiss superstar updated his fans via his Twitter account. He noted that he cannot wrestle for one week.

However, the injury was just a work and Cesaro is not really injured, per Cageside Seats. It is mentioned that the WWE is trying to get him some sympathy for his big comeback against Sheamus. The expectation is the injury will force the third match to get delayed by a few weeks.

The possible date of the next match in the Best of Seven series is about two weeks away from "Clash of Champions" on September 25. Sheamus will likely take a 3-0 lead in the series before Cesaro makes his babyface comeback.

There were several reports after the WWE Draft that Cesaro had some backstage heat for his shoot comments about management. But Vince McMahon is rumored to be impressed by the promo and it will result in a push for The King of Swing.

If Cesaro wins and makes a comeback in the Best of Seven series against Sheamus, the rumors about the push would be confirmed. The WWE has been pushing most independent talents at the moment with Dean Ambrose, Kevin Owens, and Finn Balor becoming champions.

Cesaro is just waiting in the wings to finally break through the ceiling and winning against Sheamus is the right direction. Check the video below for the highlights of the second match in their Best of Seven series.
