Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton rematch confirmed; WWE making a mistake not booking match in a PPV?

Brock Lesnar enters the ring for his match at WWE SummerSlam 2015.

Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton's rematch is now in the books but unfortunately, it will not be happening in the upcoming PPV, "Backlash." Turns out, WWE wanted to save a bit of cash as a live event will cost them less for Lesnar to make an appearance.

Orton suffered a nasty cut after Lesnar unleashed a flurry of elbows during their match in Summerslam which resulted to a technical knock-out decision in favor of "The Beast Incarnate." It took 10 stitches to patch the wound up but the embarassment Orton received will probably take longer to heal. Knowing the second generation superstar, he will be looking for retribution and he does not need to wait long as the rematch is happening on Sept. 24.

Some fans were expecting a suspension but Lesnar only received a $500 fine from commissioner Stephanie McMahon. Hence, everything is good between the two parties. The biggest question, however, is why the match is not scheduled on "Clash of Champions" which is just a day away but instead, Lesnar and Orton will be competing in a non-televised event.

Apparently, it goes down to a simple reason that the WWE management wanted to pay Lesnar less compared to his higher rate when he competes in PPV, Wrestling Observer reported. Lesnar, meanwhile, has no issues with the pay as he wanted the live event to be as lively as possible. Hence, he chose Orton as his opponent.

WWE fans at Chicago will likely get a treat as they may see "The Beast" unleash his uncontrollable rage once again. During Summerslam, not only did Orton get the beating of a limetime, but Shane McMahon was also at the receiving end of Lesnar's fury.

Big matches bound to happen in the PPV "WWE Backlash" are Intercontinental champ The Miz defending his title against Dolph Ziggler, "The Viper" Randy Orton against "Eater of Worlds" Bray Wyatt and competing in the main event are AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose with the WWE World Championship on the line, according to WWE. Here is Orton getting his revenge on Lesnar in the recent episode of RAW.
