Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Exploded

A South Korean news agency has reported that Samsung is likely to recall Galaxy Note 7 units due to faulty battery issue. The news was published after two instances of exploding of Galaxy Note 7 had surfaced in the recent past.

Early reviewers have stated that the Galaxy Note 7 is the best ever Note series phablet from the South Korean company. Soon after its announcement, Samsung's stock skyrocketed and the high demand for phone resulted in shortage of supply.

Around two weeks after Galaxy Note 7 launch, a Korean woman claimed that her Note 7 exploded when she had kept it for charging overnight. She had reportedly used a third-party microUSB to USB Type-C adapter to charge her Note 7.

A few days later another Galaxy Note 7 exploded while it was kept on charging through a non-Samsung charger. At the end of August Reuters reported that Samsung has confirmed that it is halting the shipment of Galaxy Note 7 units with the reason of carrying out additional tests for product quality. This has caused Samsung's market value to drop by $7 billion.

Samsung has apparently found that there is a defect in the battery of Galaxy Note 7, Yonhap News Agency from South Korea reported this morning. Hence, Samsung is expected to recall all Galaxy Note 7 units starting from this weekend or early next week. The South Korean company is now rumored to be in talks over logistics with Verizon to begin a recall.

Samsung's major rival, Apple is soon going to launch its new phablet, the iPhone 7 Plus alongside iPhone 7 on Sept. 7. The alleged problem with the battery of Galaxy Note 7 and the launch of iPhone 7 Plus can significantly disturb the sales of Note 7.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is the first Note phablet to come with dual-edge curved display. It is also the first Samsung phone to feature Gorilla Glass 5, a USB Type-C port and an iris scanner.

The Snapdragon 820 and Exynos 8890 SoC variants feature 4 GB of RAM. Apart from internal storage of 64 GB, the Note 7 also features a microSD slot. It has a 12-megapixel rear camera and a selfie shooter of 5-megapixel. It features an improved stylus and a 3,500 mAh battery.
