After her widely-acclaimed "Sound of Music" tribute performance at this year's Oscars, Lady Gaga is making waves yet again by revealing she will star in the upcoming fifth season of hit TV series "American Horror Story."

Gaga shared the news about her latest project through a brief video she posted on Twitter, which quickly became viral. While no details about her role have been revealed, the superstar did share the subtitle of the FX anthology series' next edition: "Hotel."

"American Horror Story: Hotel" will mark Gaga's first major TV project. Her casting so far is the first to have been revealed for the anthology series, while names of other new cast and the exact premiere date are yet to be announced, according to E! Online.

"American Horror Story" co-creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy is known to have had successfully made prized talent join the series, such as Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett and Michael Chiklis, among others.

"It always just comes down to pure fandom with me. I just speak from the heart about why I love them," Murphy stated as reported by Variety.

"American Horror Story" has consistently enjoyed high ratings for the cable TV channel FX since its first season aired in 2011. Every installment of the franchise has also been well received by critics, with the repertory cast earning nominations and awards for their respective performances.

The fourth season titled "American Horror Story: Freak Show," which just ended this January, achieved record-breaking ratings. Its premiere successfully set a benchmark for the most-watched in FX history.

The fifth season, "American Horror Story: Hotel," will premiere in October.
