'Winds of Winter' writer George R. R. Martin and Joe Lansdale pose before SundanceTV's 'Hap & Leonard' Screening at the Jean Cocteau Theater on February 23, 2016 in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Earlier reports by Amazon France, which informed the world that "The Winds of Winter," "Game of Thrones" book series has an actual release date set for March 2017 have been dismissed by George R.R. Martin's publisher Random House.

Amazon France had put up a listing for the sixth book of the series "A Song of Ice and Fire" ("ASOIF") claiming that the release date is set. These reports were, however, incorrect to the disappointment of fans who have been eagerly waiting since 2011 when Martin last released the previous book, "A Dance with Dragons." in the series.

According to CNET, Random House revealed that the "The Winds of Winter," release date has not yet been set, and any other on-sale dates are just incorrect speculations. The publisher added that it will announce the exact date once it has been set.

The author has been working on the new "Game of Thrones" book to add to his 5 bundle "ASOIF" collection whilst doling out chapters for quite some time. His latest excerpt, which was revealed online in May, focused on Arianne Martell, the niece of Oberyn.

Whilst fans had hoped that Martin would be working on a five-year schedule for "The Winds of Winter," they anticipated a 2016 release. This will seemingly not be the case as they have to wait longer than expected. The author, however, affirmed that when he finishes the book, he will personally make a straightforward announcement for his fans, until then he does not entertain games with regards to the book.

Meanwhile, "Game of Thrones" Season 7 is speculated to be out by summer 2017. Actual details are very vivid following the only short trailer circulating the internet. It is, however, expected that white walkers will finally appear in the season, TV guide reported.

It is also rumored that fans should anticipate a sea battle that involves Theon, Yara and Euron. Apparently, Euron will engage his nephew and niece who were travelling with Daenerys in Season 6, and capture them. Euron is further expected to find a new ally in Cersei where the two will be a ruthless duo.
