Samsung Galaxy S8 specs, features: Flagship smartphone will launch in two curved edge variants

President of Mobile Communications Business of Samsung DJ Koh presents the new Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, the predecessors of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Edge.

Samsung could find a new winner in the Galaxy S8 as it is shaping up to be a huge leap over the current Galaxy S7 flagship smartphone.

Despite the huge Galaxy Note 7 debacle, some fans believe that Samsung will still be able to pull through with their new devices that will be released in 2017. One of the most anticipated devices is the Galaxy S8 which is expected to have significantly better specs over its predecessor.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Specs and Features

Speculations state that the Galaxy S8 would not have an EDGE variant as the base model itself would already have a curved edge screen just like what was done in the Galaxy Note 7. The new Gaalxy S8 flagship smartphone is expected to have a 5.5-in AMOLED screen with 4K resolution, Know Your Mobile has learned.

Samsung has already demonstrated a 4K mobile screen with their Bio Blue technology and it could be applied in the upcoming devices including the Galaxy X and the Galaxy S8. If not, the very least is still a QHD resolution which fans have grown to love on the flagship smartphones.

Leaked Galaxy S8 details show that the phone could carry Samsung's new sensor design which could mean a new camera setup with at least 18MP for the rear camera. A dual-camera sensor is also expected on the new smartphone but there have been little to no evidences to support the claims.

One report from the trusted source Korea Herald also claimed that the Galaxy S8 will launch in two screen sizes with the latter being 5.1-inch but both will still have curved edges, Express.co.uk reported. It would seem that Samsung is trying to redefine their devices with curved screens.

It is expected that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will carry a better version of the S7's current Exynos 8890 or the Snapdragon 821 from Qualcomm. The device would need a powerful chipset to drive the graphics and performance together with the 4K screen should that be made possible in 2017.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Release Date

Since the Galaxy S7 was unveiled in the MWC 2015 event in Barcelona, the same could be expected with the Galaxy S8. Samsung could tease the phone earlier but it is not expected to be revealed at least in the early 2017.
