Singaporean actress Rebecca Lim, 29, is still on cloud nine after meeting "Descendants of the Sun" actor Song Joong-Ki on the red carpet at the 2016 Seoul Drama Awards. The annual event was held on Sept. 8, Thursday, at the KBS broadcasting station in Yeouido, Seoul, South Korea.
Speaking to The Straits Times from the South Korean capital, the "Yes We Can!" star revealed her friends were most likely more amped up about her having the same space as the Korean actor. Lim was seated right behind Song during the ceremony.
"When my friends heard that Song was attending the award ceremony, they texted me and asked me to take pictures with him," Lim added. "I didn't think much about it because I didn't know whether it was possible to do so. He was in the front row and I was seated right behind him."
Lim goes ahead to say that meeting the Hallyu star felt surreal as she had binge-watched "Descendants of the Sun" for the entire four days. The 16-episode hit KBS 2TV drama starred Joong-Ki and Song Hye-Kyo.
"'Descendants of the Sun' is the only Korean drama I have watched from start to finish," the Singaporean actress revealed. "The story is very fast-paced and to-the-point. It had a lot of unexpected twists. It was very romantic."
Lim, who made her acting debut in 2008 with "The Truth," bagged the Asian Star Prize, recognizing her convincing turn as a bar entertainer, Wan FeiFei, in Channel 8's "The Journey: Our Homeland." The period drama aired from July 16 to Aug. 26 for 30 episodes.
Other recipients of the Asian Star Prize included Hong Kong's Anthony Wong, Taiwan's Jasper Liu, Filipino actor Dennis Trillo and Japanese actress Fujii Mina, Soompi reported. The prize was even more important for Lim in light of the fact that she shared it with the "Ip Man: The Final Fight" actor.
Lim stated she adored how Wong worked his way to the top, stressing that his 2002 movie "Infernal Affairs" was a huge hit when she was still in school. She added, "To win an award was already such a huge deal. To be on the same stage as Wong, whom I have admired from a young age, and winning the same award as him was a huge deal for me."
