iPhone 7 gets the top spot as pre-orders have already exceeded the expectations of AT&T. Apple will not release first-weekend sales of its new phone.
AT&T CFO John Stephens said that the pre-orders only began a few days ago, but the volume was ahead of expectations, CNBC quoted him as saying during a conference webcast. The reality is that their sales are up as one of the biggest providers of the iPhone services.
Stephens said that the service provider has released a promo for the consumers to try out, and they are hoping that it would be effective. They are also going to make an investment in those customers, since they are their best customers.
Apple's shares have slowly increased after the new report, which is now up about 3.5 percent at $111.77 a share. Recently, Sprint and T-Mobile also reported that they have also gained strong pre-orders.
Macquarie Group senior analyst Ben Schachter told the publication that people are happy with the iPhone 7. In the past, they were afraid that the brand was going to be a decliner as days went by because it already had its best days. Today, people seem to be comfortable with the upcoming phones like the upcoming phone from Apple.
Schachter said that there are more people looking at Apple from different areas. He thinks that these areas are still underappreciated by investors, and they think it could be a great investment going forward.
Some reviewers have given the new phone with some great reviews, but they did not give it a perfect score. Bernstein analyst Toni Sacconaghi told the publication in an interview that the pool of existing iPhone users is about 50 percent higher compared to two years ago. This could raise the sales of the iPhone to consumers in need of an upgrade.
Apple spokeswoman Kristin Huguet told Reuters in an interview that they will not release their first-weekend sales of its new phone product. She also said that they are proud that they will sell out the iPhone 7 due to the many pre-orders all over the world. She also said that they have expanded their distribution through carriers and resellers to many locations around the world.
