Google is expected to announced the Pixel and Pixel XL soon with rumored specs include Snapdragon 821 and 12 MP rear camera

Google's next-gen flagship smartphone, Google Pixel XL/Nexus Marlin have received new leaks ahead of launch. According to a new report, the HTC-built Google Pixel XL will cost around $649, although this not clear yet if that price is for the 32 GB or 128 GB storage configuration.

The tech giant, Google released the Nexus One, its first smartphone, in January 2010 and teamed up with HTC to build the gadget. Since then, the company has continued with such partnerships with several Android tablet and smartphone makers to have its Nexus lineup, but it is now rumored the company might put an end to the Nexus brand.

One evidence of Google killing off its Nexus brand came after the company renamed its Nexus Launcher, the launcher had been available for download from the Google Play Store. Pixel Launcher images leaks were posted online via a reliable tipster. The Pixel Launcher confirms Google's new smartphones would be Pixel handsets.

Since HTC developed Google's first Nexus smartphone, it only makes sense for the company to be enlisted in building Google's first Pixel smartphones. For the last few months, the two new handsets been making headlines, and in July, it was revealed that the pair was codenamed Marlin and Sailfish, this also came with a leaked render which showed off the new design, Phone Arena reported.

After a render of the Google Pixel Sailfish was reported to have appeared in a 360-degree video, new details about its larger sibling, Marlin have emerged. Marlin is expected to be officially called the Pixel XL.

David Ruddock of Android Police, made a Twitter post which claimed that the Google Pixel XL will be priced at $649 immediately after its official release. He however, says that he is not clear whether this price is for the 128 GB or 32 GB variant.

According to PC Advisor, Google's current pricing structure for the Nexus 6P, 32 GB variant which the Pixel XL is expected to replace, was sold for $499, while the 64 GB model was sold at $549 with the 128 GB storage option having a $649 price tag.

The Google Pixel XL is expected to have a 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad HD display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor will power it, and boasts a 4 GB of RAM. The Pixel XL handset is said to pack in an 8 megapixel front-facing snapper and 13 megapixel rear camera.

Google's upcoming Pixel event rumored to take place on Oct. 4, will see a lot get revealed regarding both the Pixel XL (Marlin) and new Pixel (Sailfish).
