Amid rumors about the impending Nexus 7 tablet, Google is rumored to tap Huawei as the manufacturer on the company's anticipated tablet release this year, according to leaked information by a tipster. Meanwhile, the news was coupled with rumors on the tablet's change in brand name into Pixel.
Known gadget information leaker Evan Blass, also known as @evleaks, fueled the rumors circulating regarding the announcement of Google's upcoming Nexus handset and posted to Twitter, "Google's Huawei-built 7-inch tablet, with 4GB RAM, on track for release before the end of the year." The news comes after speculations that the anticipated Google Nexus Android phones 2016 will be released next year instead.
According to Phone Arena, with Google collaborating with the Chinese tech giant again, following their first team-up with the Nexus 6P, it is highly speculated that the tablet will not be named Nexus 7 (2016), but will instead carry the name Pixel. The new HTC-built smartphones are expected to be called the Pixel and the Pixel XL.
According to PCAdvisor, Huawei PR shares "We don't comment on future products, as a matter of policy. Huawei is committed to creating the world's most compelling and innovative devices, offering an exceptional performance and outstanding user experience." The spokesperson also stated that they are proud to have worked with Google on the Nexus 6P flagship, and that they will continue to collaborate with the company for future projects.
2016 Nexus 7's specs will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, paired with an equally robust Adreno 530 graphics processing unit and a 4-GB RAM. In addition, the 7-inch tablet will be powered by an AMOLED Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) display and the base storage offering will be 64GB.
The 2016 Nexus 7 will also sport the latest Android 7.0 Nougat operating system, along with numerous new features like enhanced doze, faster navigation, virtual reality support, and multi-window functions.
According to the source revealing this information, the following specifications are based on a pre-production model, so small changes in the final device are possible. More so, the official price tag for the powerful Nexus 7 is still undetermined, so fans should wait for further details before its release.
The 2016 Nexus 7 is slated for release sometime in November or around Thanksgiving Day, based on the information leaked by the tipster.
