The LG X Power features a MediaTek Helio P10 with a Mali GPU.

Sprint has just announced their new LG X Power with a Mediatek Helio P10 processor which is a first for the carrier who carries phones with mostly Qualcomm chipsets.

The new LG X Power specs are for the mid-range market but it does not lag behind the other smartphones such as the Zenfone 3 from ASUS or even the budget Samsung Galaxy A3 models. It features the MediaTek Helio P10 processor which is not familiar for some who are always looking for Snapdragon chipsets in their smartphones.

Sprint's LG X Power offering includes a gigantic 4100 mAh battery and 2GB of RAM besides the Helio P10 processor, The Verge has learned. Unlike other mid-range smartphones, the new LG X Power has a 5.3-inch screen with FHD 1080p resolution instead of 720p.

While some users may want a 5.5-inch screen, the 0.2-inch difference causes a significant gain in the PPI value of the smartphone itself. In addition, the photos from the 16GB rear and 8GB front camera will look better on a smaller screen.

LG X Power will have a 1.8GHz octa-core processor and a Mali-T860 GPU which is clocked at 700MHz to handle even the latest 3D graphic-heavy video games in the Google Play Store, TechRadar reported. With the large battery capacity, it would not be hard to get more than a day on a single charge alone even with heavy gaming and browsing use.

One of the common problems in all smartphones is the battery life. With over 4000mAh in capacity, the LG X Power could very well be a contender in the best smartphone for battery life.

Users could be disappointed with the 16GB internal storage but they should not fret as it supports expandable storage through a microSD card. The Helio P10 chipset is claimed by MediaTek to be as powerful as Qualcomm's Snapdragon 600 series although that remains to be determined with the LG X Power smartphone.

Both Sprint and Boost Mobile will be selling and offering the LG X Power to their customers for $149. Data plans could individually differ and the release date is set for around this month.
