The Cleveland Cavaliers' are lucky to have JR Smith still on the free agency market and looking at rejoining the team.
Smith was a key factor for the Cavaliers' 2015-2016 NBA Championship run an was able to put out 12.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists during the season.
The playoffs provided an outlet wherein Smith continued to shine as he poured in 43% of his shots from the three-point arc.
For now, Smith feels that he has nowhere to go but stay loyal to the organization that gave him an opportunity to perform in basketball's biggest stage.
"I don't want to feel like I'm taking advantage of the Cavs for everything they've done for me, and I don't want them to feel like I'm taking advantage of them. It's more of a mutual respect thing," said Smith through Cleveland.com
Still hopeful, Smith can still check out his options with other teams but if ever he does, he would do it for his family's better future.
But more than that, Smith can only see himself being a champion with the Cavs and no other team can fit him and take him to a position to contend.
"Financially, you can always go somewhere else," said Smith
"Team morale-wise, there are a few teams that I could see working. There are guys I would like to play with, guys I have played with. Being able to live in that city or a particular place, school systems, kids, family life -- [with] free agency, everything comes into play. Before, I could just sit there and be like, 'I don't care where I go.' But now I have the kids, and it's like, 'OK, what's the best fit?'
The stalemate between JR Smith and the Cleveland Cavaliers continues but it losing the shooting guard could mean a lot in repeating as champions for the organization.
