Google Nexus 2016 (Pixel & Pixel XL) Leaked Out? Release Date, Specs, Features and More Details Revealed

Google has so far refused to comment on anything about the Nexus 2016 release date plans, like whether the Stock Android flagships will unbox as Pixel and Pixel XL or they will keep the Nexus label. However, the latest round of leaks seemingly revealed solid new details on the upcoming devices.

Thanks to Android Police, Nexus fans now have a clear idea on the design and finish of the sequels to last year's Huawei Nexus 6P and LG Nexus 5X. The next Nexus or Pixel smartphones are said to be manufactured by HTC and the latest leaked images from the same report indicated the device will be housed in a mix of glass and aluminum.

Pointing to the new Nest ads, Android Police said that the devices showcased are likely the upcoming signature phones from Google and built, of course, by HTC. Seen in the same ad campaign is a supersized white handset with no clear labelling.

But the report said that it's safe to assume Google used an Android device on the clip and a Nexus or Pixel phone at that.

And in a follow up report, Android Police shared two pictures of the Google phones sitting side by side. One device sports a larger display, which likely is the phablet Nexus that in earlier reports were referred to as the HTC Marlin. No dimensions were provided but rumors say the Marlin will unpack with 5.5-inch of screen profile.

The smaller device, also in white finish (front and rear), appears to be the HTC Sailfish that was earlier reported to have a 5-inch display. The images depicting the completed devices are clear but the labelling was obviously digitally erased, further hyping up the mystery on what exactly the name Google will give to its 2016 flagships. As everyone knows, it's a toss between Nexus and Pixel.

Speculations are also rife that it is the jumbo-size Nexus 2016 or Pixel XL that will pack more power. But the new benchmark scores discovered by WCCF Tech, the Google phone seems destined to be overpowered by its flagship rivals. The numbers returned, the report said, were significantly lower when pitted against the soaring scores of both the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Apple iPhone 7.

As for the pricing on release date, likely to happen in October, the Nexus 2016 or Google Pixel will start at $649 with 32GB of basic storage, again per Android Police. No pricing details were provided for the Pixel XL.
