Konami announced a new Metal Gear Solid spin-off, "Metal Gear Survive" during the Gamescom 2016 and will be release on 2017 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.

The latest details for "Metal Gear Survive" will feature a new game demo at Tokyo Game Show 2016 and Hideo Kojima not involved in the sequel's development.

Konami showcased the first gameplay demo of "Metal Gear Survive" during the Tokyo Game Show 2016. As seen on the trailer, "Metal Gear Survive" will feature four playable characters, soldiers from Snake/Big Boss's unit who are sucked into the wormhole and ended up in an alternate dimension and fight off hordes of zombie like enemies, GearNuke reported.

The gameplay will be similar to previous titles like "Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes" and "The Phantom Pain", but with little difference. The "Metal Gear Survive" demo is divided into two parts, the first part will feature infiltration as gamers will engage in stealth action just like the previous titles, only this time they will be working as a pair. The zombie like enemies which are dubbed "creatures" can be killed by attacking the red lump on their backs. They can be distracted by throwing objects like bottles, or even use lure like sheeps. Gamers can use the wormhole to teleport them to gamers stronghold and gain materials.

Gamers can track their teammates using their communicator and link with them for a command. Players can be injured during a creature attack similar to "Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater". Their injuries will affect the soldier's performance in battle and gamers must tend to their injuries as soon as possible.

The second part will feature all four players defending a stronghold as the soldiers will place a transmitter to a wormhole and wait for a distress call. Gamers will have to look around the area for falling objects and enemy creatures. Players must defend the transmitter at all times and they can put several defenses such as fences, barbwire barricades and machien gun turrets.

Hordes of enemies will be coming after the players as they must do what they can do survive. When the creatures starts to overwhelm the area, the players will either fight or leave the transmitter and blow it up for safety.

In other news, it seems that "Metal Gear" creator Hideo Kojima has something to say regarding the development of "Metal Gear Survive". Kojima stated during a stage presentation as TGS 2016 that he has not involvement in the new "Metal Gear" game and would prefer to distance himself from it, Gamerant reported.

Kojima added that his "Metal Gear" games were about “political fiction and espionage” and that zombies do not fit into the vision he had for the franchise. Former character and mechanical designer Yoji Shinkawa was on stage for Kojima’s presentation, and he too denied any involvement with Konami’s upcoming game before joking that if he had “worked on that game, it would have mechs in it.”

It was during the development of "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" that Kojima decided to part ways with Konami after several creative disputes. Gaming fans were not too kind with the announcement of "Metal Gear Survive" during Gamescom 2016 as the game itself is somewhat a departure from previous titles having zombie like monsters as enemies and turning it into a survival action game than that of a stealth and espionage gameplay.

"Metal Gear Survive" will be released on 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms.
