The upcoming tvN drama "The K2" will mark YoonA's return to the South Korean small screens. However, the Girls Generation singer has recently shared some of her initial apprehensions for her role in the said project, as well as the struggles of an idol group singer who transitioned into the acting field.
The Girls Generation group member has weighed in on the challenges and prejudice that some people may have against her given her idol turned actress status. During the press conference for the tvN drama "The K2" held on Sept. 20, Tuesday, YoonA revealed how she tackled the said issue.
The South Korean star mentioned that she would rather focus on other things than stress over the said issue, Korean publication Joongboo quoted the singer as saying. Over the years, some people have developed a pre-conception that idol group members do not have the necessary abilities to start an acting career.
Although YoonA confessed that she previously felt burdened with the idol-actress prejudice and even experienced some difficulties in some of her projects. However, she stated that she has learned to deal with the said issue.
The Girls Generation group member also revealed some of her initial worries in joining the tvN drama. The said project will mark her Korean drama comeback after the 2013 series "Prime Minister and I." YoonA shared that she had a lot of apprehensions given her three-year hiatus from the South Korean drama scene.
However, the singer admitted that her fellow cast members Ji Chang Wook, Song Yoon Ah and the drama's director has helped her to overcome her worries. She commented that she was able to "muster up the courage" to join the drama, as well as prepare for her role in the series.
Meanwhile, YoonA's co-star Song has complimented the Girls Generation group member for her beauty. The actress recounted a earlier encounter with YoonA and her fellow group members during a film awards event. She recalled a conversation she had with a staff member at that time where she described the singer as pretty.
Song shared that she can still remember YoonA's beautiful face during the said event, All Kpop quoted the actress as saying. She added, "Seeing her on the set was welcoming and also different."
