Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be released in 2017 instead of in 2016; Surface Book receives huge discounts

Surface Pro avid fans are eagerly waiting for the release of Microsoft's next generation device, the Surface Pro 5. However, latest rumors suggest that the hybrid laptop will not come out until 2017 due to Intel's Kaby Lake processor that is said to power the upcoming laptop.

The Kaby Lake processor will not be ready until the end of this year, and therefore, it cannot be shipped to the Surface team until then, according to Tech Radar. The release date for the processor further supports the rumors for the delay of the Surface Pro 5 delay. In addition, the upcoming hybrid laptop is rumored to feature USB Type-C port for faster data transfer.

Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is also believed to sport 4K Ultra HD display. Users who are keen on budget should opt for a lower-end hybrid laptop variant with 2K display. More features for the Surface Pro 5 include 16 GB of RAM and a pair of cameras - the 16MP and 8MP lenses.

On the other hand, there is news concerning the Windows 10 Redstone 2 release date. Sources suggest that the Redstone 2 will not be coming out until spring 2017. As a result, it is very clear that Microsoft is possibly pushing the Surface Pro 5 release date to next year.

Recent reports as well suggest that Microsoft will hold an event in October, but it will not be for any of the new generation of Surface devices nor the much-rumored Surface Phone, according to The Verge. On the contrary, the tech giant plans to release an all-in-one PC together with a revamped Surface Book and Surface Pro 4. The rumored all-in-one PC will be the company's center of focus at the said event and it would be tagged as the device to turn users' desktops into studios.

While the information is not very exciting for avid fans of the Surface Pro, it is still something worth waiting from Microsoft. However, fans are still optimistic that in case the event will indeed happen, the manufacturer will at least mention the next-generation Surface devices and the existence of the Surface Phone.

With no official confirmation from Microsoft, these rumors should be taken with a grain of salt. Here is a sneak peek to have a glimpse of features that will be coming with the Surface Pro 5:
