2PM's Taecyeon will be the first to enlist in the two-year mandatory military service. In a recent interview, the 27-year-old rapper revealed that he will enlist as an active duty soldier in early 2017.
In the 99th episode of JTBC's "Please Take Care of My Refrigerator," which aired on Oct. 3, Monday, the singer-turned-actor opened up about his forthcoming conscription. He revealed that he will most likely begin his two-year mandatory military service in the first quarter of 2017, Soompi reported.
Due to his poor vision and a dislocated shoulder back, the local government determined Taecyeon only fit to be a public service personnel. Despite that, Taecyeon is still determined to enlist himself as an active duty soldier.
In order to undertake active military duties, Taecyeon revealed that he underwent back surgery in 2012 and 2013 to adjust the herniated disk. When asked if he is not frightened about his two-year military enlistment, Taecyeon admitted that he is both terrified and worried since he does not have a ton of time left until then.
Nonetheless, the "Dream High" star believed that he made the right decision. It can be recalled Taecyeon had given up his permanent resident status in the United States with the goal that he can serve in the Korean military.
Taecyeon also revealed that the remaining 2PM members, with the exception of Nichkhun, plan to enlist in the two-year military service after the promotional activities for the "Promise (I'll Be)" album are over. 2PM previously revealed that they have never been on vacation as a group and that they would really like to go before enlisting in the army.
The news came nearly three-month after Taecyeon first revealed that the tvN series "Let's Fight Ghost" will be his last drama project before he goes to the army. In the 16-episode drama, Taecyeon portrayed a 23-year-old 2nd year Economics student, Park Bong-Pal, who can see and interact with ghosts.
Although Taecyeon portrayed an exorcist in the tvN drama, the Kpop idol revealed that he is actually frightened of ghosts. Given his fear of ghosts, the 2PM member would not even dare to go inside a haunted house.
"In reality, I'm afraid of ghosts," All Kpop quoted Taecyeon as saying during the "Let's Fight Ghost's" press conference in July. "There are many people who dress up as ghosts [in the drama]. I can't even stare at them as they are getting their makeup done. I scream for real [in fright] in the drama."
