Lee, who debuted as an actor in 2005's "Sympathy," has received tremendous popularity and love due to his dynamic portrayal of a laid-back and smart Kang Chul in "W - Two Worlds." Due to its immense popularity, Lee considered the MBC drama as a turning point in his acting career.
"The thirst I had to act while resting for a year after 'Pinocchio' was fully quenched when I started this project," Lee told fashion magazine InStyle Korea, as cited by Soompi. "Personally, through 'W' I grew to worry less about my way of acting, and I saw the image of myself that I wanted to see."
Currently, Lee is on a fan meeting tour, dubbed "2016 Lee Jong Suk Fan Meeting Variety," with stops in Taiwan and Thailand on Oct. 22 and Oct. 28, respectively. The fan meeting was planned to thank all the fans for their unending loyalty and support for the Hallyu star.
After the fan meeting event, Lee will star next in an upcoming espionage thriller film "VIP," to be directed by Park Hoon-Jung. He will play the son of a high-ranking North Korean official, Gwang-II, who is suspected of committing serial homicides around the world.
The upcoming espionage thriller film marks Lee's first role as a villain. He will be joined by veteran actors Kim Myung Min, Jang Dong Gun, and Park Hee Soon. More details about the project will be revealed soon.
