It is official. EXO's Baekhyun, Chen, and Xiumin will perform their soundtrack to the popular SBS show "Scarlet Heart: Ryeo" at this year's Busan One Asia Festival (BOF) Closing Ceremony Dream Concert.
The good news came to light when a fan twitter account of "Scarlet Heart: Ryeo" took to Twitter on Sept. 22. In the photo, it is said that EXO's Baekhyun, Chen, and Xiumin will perform their ending theme song to the SBS drama, titled "For You."
The closing ceremony of the 23-day long grand festival, dubbed Dream Concert, will be attended by SHINee, INFINITE, BTS, GOT7, MAMAMOO, AOA, TWICE, GFriend and Monsta X, Kpop Map reported. The event will happen on Oct. 23, 7:00-9:00 PM (KST) at the Asiad Main Stadium, Busan, South Korea.
"For You," which was released on Aug. 24, has received many favorable reviews at home and abroad. Several hours after the song was released, it immediately topped Korean music chart Soribada, hitting the number two spot on Olleh Music, Mnet, Genie Music, Bugs, and Naver.
Meanwhile, EXO's Baekhyun, Chen and Xiumin will collaborate to debut as a sub-unit. The trio will kick off several sub-unit activities in late October and film their title track's music video this week.
S.M. Entertainment, however, did not reveal the name of the subunit or any detailed plans for activities. Although nothing is official yet, EXO's Baekhyun, Chen and Xiumin had previously teased fans about the sub-unit with a short video under the name "Reservoir Idols."
In other news, SBS's "Scarlet Heart: Ryeo" posted strong viewership ratings in Malaysia and Singapore. The historical drama reached more than 70 percent share of timeslot among the four Korean entertainment channels in both Singapore and Malaysia.
Senior Vice President and Head, Content, Production & Marketing for Sony Pictures Television Networks Asia, Virginia Lim, said in a press statement that extensive publicity efforts have prompted the enormous success of "Scarlet Heart: Ryeo."
"The extensive promotional and publicity efforts by ONE - including the fan meeting with one of the leading men Kang Ha Neul - undoubtedly further raised awareness and bolster anticipation of the programme here," Lim added. "The thrill of being able to catch the drama at the same time as Korea for the first time ever in Southeast Asia has helped to boost 'Scarlet Heart's' ratings."
