YoonA and Ji Chang Wook's bodyguard drama "The K2" continues to capture the viewers' interest with its exciting storyline and suspenseful scenes. The tvN drama recently registered its highest TV ratings since it premiered in late September.
"The K2" episode 5 reached a peak viewership share of 7.6 percent, according to Nielsen Korea, as cited by Korea Herald. Aired on Oct. 7, Friday, the said episode featured YoonA and Ji's cute ramen scene including an action-packed fight sequence that involved sprinklers and an umbrella.
However, the tvN drama's episode 5 only reached an average TV rating of 6.8 percent. Despite the low percentage, the said viewership share is considered an impressive feat particularly for a weekend series, as indicated in the same report. Most weekend TV dramas receive lower ratings as compared to series that are shown during Mondays and Fridays.
YoonA and Ji's drama has received positive reviews since it released its first episode on Sept. 23. Viewership share also doubled from the series' debut TV ratings of 3.8 percent to its current level of 6.8 percent. At this time, it is still unsure if the tvN drama will manage to surpass the 10 percent mark during its 16-episode run.
The drama features the story of a mercenary soldier-turned-bodyguard named Je Ha. Ji portrays the said character who is tasked to protect Yoona's Anna, the secret daughter of a presidential candidate. However, Je Ha may have his hands full keeping Anna safe given the political machinations between family members and opposing electoral candidates.
In other news, Ji previously made mention of his and YoonA's on-screen chemistry during the tvN drama's press conference held in September. The "Healer" actor commented on his good rapport with the Girls Generation group member. The two Korean celebrities even spent some time together during earlier filming activities to improve their working relationship, Asia Today quoted Ji as saying.
YoonA's cheerful personality also contributed to the positive and happy work environment on set, according to the actor. It appears that the Girls Generation singer has a knack of making the drama's cast and crew members laugh during filming sessions.
