Fifth-running club Villarreal CF (3-0-4, 13 points) will look to stay unbeaten in the 2016-2017 La Liga season as they host streaking squad Celta de Vigo (3-3-1, 10 points) at the Estadio El Madrigal on Sunday, Oct. 16.
Start Time and Streaming Info
The game starts at 2:45 p.m. ET. It can be viewed live online thru FuboTV.
Villarreal was able to keep themselves undefeated after seven rounds of matches with three wins and four draws. Their last match resulted in a goalless draw with lowly team RCD Espanyol at the Estadi Cornellà-El Prat on Oct. 2, via SkySports.
It was the third clean sheet for Villarreal goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo this season, but El Submarino Amarillo was not able to capitalize as they were also blanked by Los Periquitos during the contest.
Head coach Fran Escribá will rely on forwards Nicola Sansone and Alexandre Pato to bring the goals again in this match with Os Célticos as resident striker Roberto Soldado is still sidelined by injury at the moment.
Soldado suffered a torn ACL in his right knee during a preseason friendly with Deportivo La Coruna in August. He is currently recuperating from the surgery he had to repair it and was ruled out to miss six months before he can return to the pitch.
Meanwhile, Celta Vigo pulled off one of the biggest upsets this season by turning back defending champions FC Barcelona, 4-3, at their home field of Estadio Municipal de Balaídos on Oct. 2, the Mirror reported.
Head coach Eduardo Berizzo's squad zoomed off to a 3-0 lead in the first half with goals from Pione Sisto and Iago Aspas in the 22nd and 31st minutes before Barcelona defender Jeremy Mathieu had an own goal in the 33rd.
Barça failed to respond in the first half without their team leader Lionel Messi, who was sidelined by a recurring groin injury.
Defender Gerard Pique scored Barcelona's first goal in the 58th minute while Neymar further cut down the lead to a single point with a penalty kick in the 64th.
Celta Vigo made it a two-point advantage once again with a goal by midfielder Pablo Hernandez in the 77th to seal the win.
Pique netted his second goal of the game in the 87th as a consolation for the Catalan giants.
