Pokemon Go: Nest Atlas is a FastPokeMap alternative that still works; What about GoRadar, Pokezz?

Nest Atlas is a FastPokeMap alternative that still works.

Pokemon Go scanner FastPokeMap has been broken after the latest security update. ScanGo, PokeEye, OpenPokeMap, PokeAlert and Quickmap are some of the other scanners that went down with it.

To locate nearby creatures, gamers occasionally used third-party scanners and trackers. Issues with these web maps and apps began cropping up when developers of FastPokeMap disabled other scanners' access to its API because it was draining the servers.

This took many apps down for sometime; however, they were just beginning to restore the service when a new issue came up. The developer Niantic has disabled access through a new security update that is affecting all third-party scanners.

The Recaptcha security feature has closed some Pokemon Go gamers' favorite scanners and maps.

FastPokeMap developers said that they are working on getting back online so players can start using the service again. They further said that it will take two weeks to come back.

However, according to new reports, the developer has found some individuals to help and may have the service up sooner than anticipated.

Reports claim that scanners that do not access the API still work. One option is The Silph Road's Nest Atlas. For the Nest atlas, players send in the places where they find Pokemon.

Furthermore, other maps that are crowdsourced still work. The applications intercept data sent to the company and record where Pokemon Go gamers are finding creatures. The maps work best when many individuals are using them.

Also, according to reports, GoRadar app still works and Pokezz is working for Hong Kong.

Rumors are doing the rounds that a few apps are fixing the captcha problem, including PokeAlert. According to Redditors, they were allowed to solve a captcha and after that the app began working.

Menwhile, in Version 1.11.2 for Android and 0.41.2 for iOS, Pokemon Go gamers are given an added incentive to acquire medals. The medals are given out for capturing several Pokemon of the same species.

Players are given the medal 'SchoolKid' when they capture a particuklar number of normal type Pokemon. Earlier, having these medals did nothing. However, at present, collecting the medals gives gamers a good catch bonus.

Gamers will observe that after the latest update, when they choose a medal in their inventory, they will see a +3 , +2 or +1 catch bonus below it.

It is not clear what the numbers mean. However, it is said that this is adding on points to the current catch rate of any given creature. For instance, with a Pokemon such as Charizard, the base catch rate is 4%.

But the Pokemon Charizard is a Fire and Flying type, therefore, if players have a +3 catch bonus for a Fire or Flying type, the Pokemon's catch rate will be increased to 7%. Players can couple the catch bonus with Ultra Balls and Razz Berries to increase their chances of catching rare creatures.
