Former WCW champion Bill Goldberg is in prime position to headline the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2017, following his decision to make his WWE comeback for a One Night Only match with Brock Lesnar in the main event of Survivor Series.

Goldberg just made his first WWE appearance in 12 years on Monday in Denver to hype his upcoming rematch with Lesnar, who ironically the last man he wrestled before leaving the company in 2004.

According to the latest rumors, the motivation behind Goldberg's return to the squared circle at age 49 was not only to revive his brand but to make his case into the WWE Hall of Fame.

If Goldberg stumbles his way into the WWE Hall of Fame, he won't be the first WWE or WCW talent to get into the prestigious circle of wrestling legends after mending fences with the company. The Ultimate Warrior and Sting also found their way to the Hall of Fame after a promotional gig.

Career-wise, Goldberg has the credentials to back up his bid for a Hall of Fame induction. Aside from being one of the most popular wrestlers during the Attitude-Monday Night War era, he's also a two-time world champ (WCW and World Heavyweight) and the holder of one of the longest winning streak in a singles' career at 173-0.

More WWE Rumors:

-Bill Goldberg clearly stated that Brock Lesnar isn't going his next victim, but apparently he is last. Just like what Jim Ross predicted, Goldberg comes out for one last wrestling match, and that's a rematch of his underwhelming showdown with Lesnar at Wrestlemania 20 at Madison Square Garden 12 years ago.

-There are rumors floating around that WWE originally wanted Goldberg to stick around until Wrestlemania. However, Triple H reportedly objected that plan, thus limiting Goldberg to just one PPV show at Survivor Series 2016.
